I’m still super sick and have been staying home from work for the past two days. I’ve been watching movies and napping a whole lot which is super nice. The weather here in Minnesota has gone back to normal (COLD!), so I’ve been day dreaming of warmer days again. Especially about the trip Chris and I took to Puerto Morelos for our honeymoon in 2010. Maybe we can go back there next year…hmm…I can smell the salty breeze just thinking about it.

Feeding a cold

I’m trying to make a bad cold disappear by feeding it yummy food. It’s been a pretty bad winter for Agatha and me in terms of colds and the flu. I’m really hoping for a healthier spring!

Last night’s dinner: Thai (sort of) chicken soup with tons of ginger.

Today’s lunch: Chris’s delicious anchiote slow cooked pork with rice and beans.

My Fridays

I’m pretty lucky that my day job allows me to work from home Mondays and Fridays. Usually Fridays are pretty relaxed. In between winding down on my work projects and prepping for the next week, I get to do laundry, hang out with my cat children, and eat yummy home cooked food. It can be a bit lonely but cutting out my commute means shorter work hours. Which means I can take a nice walk by the lake or do a couple of chores in preparation for the weekend with the house to myself. Sometime I even get to sew a little on my lunch break. I wish I was able to have Aggy stay home from daycare but it’s in my contract that I can only work from home if the childcare responsibilities are taken care of by someone else. I do get to pick her up earlier though so that’s pretty nice.

Happy Valentines Day! I haven’t been able to get this song by First Aid Kit out of my head lately. It seems fitting for today so I thought I’d post it. I saw these ladies open for Lykke Li in November and they were even better in person. Oh, the beautiful harmonies! I think it may have been the first night that Chris put Aggy to bed without me so I was a little nervous. I kept texting him before the bands started and kept looking at my phone. But it turned out to be a great night of hanging out with my good friends and listening to wonderful music.

Zig Zag Quilt

So, I took the plunge and finally started my first quilt. I’ve made great progress on it so far and hoping to complete it by March so I can use it a little before summer. I’ve always thought that it would be terribly difficult but it’s been so easy and fun! I found a wonderful tutorial through the purlbee blog (great resource for tons of crafty projects by the way). Now, I’m completely obsessed! Daydreaming of new patterns and colors all the time.
